FSRS-5 spaced repetition, built into your notes

Turn any element on any board into a flashcard. Mena schedules it with FSRS-5 — the Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler that Anki adopted as its default — as a pure, deterministic function of your grades, computed on your device with nothing sent anywhere.

  • Auto-generate Q&A pairs from a note on-device, with no network call and no API key
  • Cloze deletion by wrapping a word in {{braces}} — one tap, no card editor
  • Anki .apkg import and export, carrying cards, scheduling state, images and clozes
  • Retention ring, streak, due / new / reviewed counts and a 14-day forecast

See the interval before you commit

Grading a card shows you what Again, Hard, Good and Easy would each do to its next interval, so the scheduler stops being a black box. Because FSRS is deterministic, the same answer history always produces the same plan.

Cards that come from your own notes

A deck is a board kind, not a separate app. Highlight a passage in an imported PDF, select a sticky note on a mind map, or let Mena read a note page and propose pairs — the card keeps its link back to where it came from.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mena a good Anki alternative on iPad?

If you want FSRS scheduling with native iPad gestures, Apple Pencil and your source notes in the same app, yes. Mena imports and exports .apkg, so you can move your existing collection in and out freely.

Does spaced repetition in Mena need an internet connection?

No. The scheduler, the card generator and the search index all run on-device. iCloud only mirrors the result to your other devices.
